Jill Coenen came in as the buyer’s agent for the sale of our home and turned what should have been a straightforward sale into a circus. She locked us into an ‘oh-so-appealing’ contract, making promises about covering inspection issues (that were har...

Response from Jill Coenen on 8/4/2025

Kayla Gorges, I'm sorry you feel the need to continue to attempt to destroy my reputation by placing these nasty and untrue reviews about me on various platforms. To clarify, I have NEVER met you, nor do I have any personal acquaintance with you. My role in this transaction was solely to represent the BUYER of your home. I meticulously adhered to the contract and advocated for my client's best interests, as was my professional duty. I do NOT have the power to make you do ANYTHING you did not want to. It's common for negotiations to arise during a home sale, and I'm concerned there may have been a significant disconnect in communication from your listing agent. On several occasions, your agent conveyed directly to me that they found you difficult to work with and unreasonable. (Which I thought was very unprofessional as a listing agent working on your behalf.) But this leads me to wonder if there was an overstatement on their part when communicating my buyer's requests to you as well. I sincerely apologize if something was said during negotiations that we are not aware of. My buyer has been excited from day one to purchase your home, and he's one of the most respectful and kind clients I have had the pleasure of working with. It's truly regrettable that a positive milestone for both you and my buyer has become tainted by such negativity. This should have easily been a very smooth transaction. At the final walkthrough, my buyer was disappointed to discover that items were missing that were supposed to be left behind, and that a big truck tire (left tucked between the overfull garbage and recyclable bins) along with a jar of some kind of unknown liquid was left beside the garage for my buyer to dispose of. When we politely requested these issues be addressed prior to closing, your response was to threaten to cancel the contract and return only components of the removed items, still making them unusable. (I must include, to be fair, that you did remove the tire and jar of liquid.) It's truly puzzling that you would then leave a one-star review based on fabrications, simply because we asked you to fulfill the responsibilities of a seller. Then, while at the property removing the tire and jar, you made up an excuse for your agent to come back to the home to let you in (having already surrendered the keys) so you could leave behind an awful note, personally directed at the buyer…how disheartening. My buyer also doesn't know you, and it's unfortunate that you chose to express such ill will on him and your past home. It makes me really sad that you would personally do this, without even knowing this buyer. (Unfortunately, Google doesn’t have an option for attaching a photo, but you wrote: “You turned the end of this chapter ugly, but it will always be more ours than it will ever be yours.”) Very sad. Ultimately, the most important outcome is that my buyer has successfully acquired a home where he and his family can create a wonderful future. We hope it brings you some peace in knowing your old home is loved. I understand selling a home is a big decision and can be a challenging and emotional time in anyone's lives. I'm thinking this is exactly what's going on, and I sincerely wish you the very best for years to come!
